Suffering Through Intel’s Announcements: 13900K, A770 GPU Price, & More

Intel’s latest presentation is filled with awkward moments, but every now and then, there’s some news hidden within. Intel’s main event was the announcement of the 13th Gen “Raptor Lake” CPUs (the i9-13900K, i7-13700K, and i5-13600K and KF CPUs) alongside news of its Arc GPU pricing and release dates. The Arc GPUs launch on the same day as NVIDIA’s RTX 4090 — October 12th — and poses an interesting strategic play by Intel to join NVIDIA in the launch timing. This is likely an Intel attempt to capture some of the lower-end market that can’t afford an RTX 4090, and it may play out well as long as the GPU drivers are in better shape.
